About This Form

The Manchester-Oxford Foot Questionnaire (MOXFQ) is a validated, patient-reported outcome measure specifically designed to assess foot and ankle function. This comprehensive questionnaire evaluates pain, walking ability, and social interaction related to foot problems, making it an essential tool for clinicians treating foot and ankle conditions. Originally developed through rigorous psychometric testing, it has been widely adopted in clinical trials and routine practice across multiple countries.

Administration Instructions

The MOXFQ should be self-administered and takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Patients should be instructed to consider their foot/ankle problems over the past week when answering questions. The questionnaire can be completed on paper, electronically, or via telephone interview.

Scoring Methodology

The MOXFQ uses a 5-point Likert scale (0-4) for each question: 0 = No problem, 1 = Mild problem, 2 = Moderate problem, 3 = Severe problem, 4 = Extreme problem. Domain scores are calculated by summing individual question scores and transforming to a 0-100 scale where 0 represents the best possible health state. Lower scores indicate better outcomes.

Meaningful Change Threshold

A change of 10-15 points in any domain score is considered clinically meaningful. For the total score, a change of 8-12 points represents a meaningful improvement or worsening.

Clinical Limitations & Considerations

The MOXFQ focuses specifically on foot and ankle conditions and may not capture all aspects of lower limb function. The questionnaire is self-reported and may be influenced by patient mood, expectations, or external factors. Some patients may find certain questions difficult to interpret.
